Verification levels

Every published image shows how well its provenance has been checked. The level is set by a moderator when the image is approved, and any change is recorded in the image's history.

Declared

The contributor declared who made the image, who holds the rights and where it came from, and a moderator reviewed and approved the declaration.

Corroborated

A moderator checked the declaration against independent evidence, recorded in an evidence note that cites at least one source.

Credentialed

Everything required for Corroborated, and the original file carried valid Content Credentials and capture metadata when the gallery received it.

Whatever the level, every published copy carries the gallery's signed Content Credentials, which anyone can verify with a C2PA tool or with the provenance lookup.
